What’s next for vacant Sacred Heart Hospital property | HSHS and Prevea Closure

Aaron White, the City of Eau Claire’s economic development manager, said HSHS does plan on selling the property.

EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) – Sacred Heart Hospital now sits vacant after decades of serving the Chippewa Valley, so what’s next for the property?

The City of Eau Claire’s community development director Aaron White told News 18 HSHS does plan on selling the property. However, this will take time as a contracted company will be appraising everything to determine its value and take offers.

White said the company is looking to either sell the campus in its entirety — which includes the Saint Francis Apartments — or to parcel the land out. Despite being in such an early stage, White said the property has generated interest.

“They haven’t released a formal timeline of when they’ll be promoting information, however they have been getting inquiries already on some of the spaces and are actually talking to some potential buyers about certain parcels even though it hasn’t been formally advertised yet through its system,” White said.

The sale of the campus will be fairly unique to property sales in Eau Claire due to HSHS’s Catholic nonprofit nature. According to White, the Vatican will need to review any offers before they’re potentially accepted.
