Lancaster County senior centers to host property tax, rent rebate application help | Local News

Area residents can get in-person help filling out state property tax or rent rebate applications as well as state income taxes on five dates in March starting Friday.

Calling to make an appointment is encouraged, according to the state Department of Revenue, which is organizing the effort.

Rent and property tax relief is available to older residents and those with disabilities whose household income is $45,000 or less. To qualify for the money, residents must be at least 65 years old — or at least 18 years old for those with disabilities. Widows and widowers 50 and older can also qualify. The amount of the rebate depends on household income.

People who want state income tax help should bring their tax information, income statements, photo identification and a Social Security card for themselves and dependents, the department said.

More information about the property tax and rent rebate program is available at revenue.pa.gov/ptrr as well as a list of required documents.

In addition to the outreach days at senior centers and community centers, in-person rebate application help is available at Department of Revenue district offices, Area Agencies on Aging and state legislators’ offices. To search those locations by ZIP code, go to lanc.news/PTRR.
