Twitter Direct Message Search Now Lets You Search Messages Using Keywords

JAKARTA – Twitter announced that it has improved its Direct Message (DM) search feature on Wednesday, March 23. This improvement will allow users to find specific messages using keywords and usernames.

If previously you could only use the search bar to search for a person’s name or the name of a group chat, now you can find a conversation with someone about the word you’re looking for.

You can still search for people’s names or conversations in DMs, and you can even decide if you want to see results for important people, groups, or messages if the keyword you’re trying to search for happens to be someone’s name.

“We know you’ve been waiting for the option to browse your DMs. Now you can use the search bar in your inbox to find specific messages using keywords and names,” Twitter wrote.

Citing The Verge, the announcement of this change has actually been around for a long time. When Twitter brought DM search to Android in May 2021, it said content search would be coming later that year.

However, the company seems to have missed that deadline a bit, but at least it’s already available on every platform, both on the web as well as iOS and Android apps.
