Solar Eclipse | Renting out property in Central Texas

WACO, Texas — For those considering renting out their property for the upcoming total solar eclipse in Central Texas, requiring deposits from renters will help ensure house rules are followed, says Lisa Monroe, co-owner of Triliji Group.

“There’s deposits that they have there and we expect them to follow those rules and if not they could potentially lose deposits or be charged additional charges for any damages or anything,” Monroe said.

Monroe says they are already booked up for the weekend of the eclipse on April 8 and for guests staying in their properties, they expect the physical buildings and the neighborhoods to be treated with respect.

“We expect them to have a good time, have a little bit of a party, but when they’re ready to leave, just to leave it the same way they found them,” Monroe said. “If not, then there’s ways we have of getting those taken care of.”

Monroe says guests are able to leave reviews for the property owners and renters can reciprocate. However, the parties cannot see the reviews written about them.

“Hosts read those reviews, so they can know not to lease to someone who may have treated a property badly or if things are left in bad shape.” Monroe said.

Another tip for those renting out their properties is to get insurance, as well as using the insurance under the Air BNB name.
