New Harrison Amendment To Let Seniors Pay Reduced Property Taxes


The deadline for eligible senior citizens in the town/village to apply for the newly approved property tax relief is coming up.

HARRISON, NY — Senior citizens in Harrison are now eligible for a big tax break, but the deadline to apply for the property tax relief is fast approaching.

The Town/Village of Harrison announced that it passed a resolution on March 20, to amend Chapter 207 of the town code, “Taxation,” by amending Article II, “Senior Citizen Exemption.” This amendment will potentially allow eligible senior citizens to receive additional deductions in their property taxes.

In order for eligible seniors to take advantage of the exemption on their 2025 property taxes, they must apply by May 1.

Applications can be found here or you can pick one up at the assessor’s office at town hall or at the Senior Centers in downtown and West Harrison. For additonal information, contact Jessica Grutteria at 914-670-3064 in the Tax Assessor office.

Town/Village of Harrison officials thanked Town Councilmember Mike DiConstanzo, Louis Dibuono from the Law Department, and Tax Assessor Joe Calandrella for their “interest and hard work in passing this amendment.”
