Beggs Ranch property rezoned with aim of increasing walkability

The Fort Worth Zoning Commission approved a plan to develop the Beggs Ranch property on the western edge of the city.

Developers of the 240-acre site at the intersection of Old Weatherford Road and FM 3325 are looking to build a mixed-use development. The number of residential units estimated for the area would include a maximum of 1,000 multifamily units, 1,000 townhomes and 650 single-family homes.

The developers, listed on the documents as Phoenix Property Co., Dallas, are looking to provide a more walkable and pedestrian-friendly project, according to Travis Clegg of Westwood Professional Services, who presented the plans to the commission. The ownership is listed in the documents as George Beggs Aledo Ranch LP and Rockriver Partnership Ltd.

The Beggs Ranch area is near the Walsh development.

“When you get into the new trends and the mixture of uses, we kind of want to change that a little bit and shake up that residential component,” Clegg said.

The zoning commission unanimously approved the change. The Fort Worth City Council is scheduled to vote on the zoning change at its March 19 meeting.

The city annexed the Beggs Ranch land in 2022.
