Sandy Springs will apply for a grant of up to $200,000 from Georgia Power to help fund electric vehicle infrastructure installation at its new police headquarters and municipal courthouse.

The installation would be for public safety vehicles and public-facing chargers, said building operations director Dave Wells at a Public Facilities Authority meeting on Tuesday.

The Georgia Power Make Ready Program assists in the installation of the infrastructure for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, including wiring, conduit, and panel upgrades.

“This program aligns with our sustainability goals and demonstrates our commitment to adopting innovative solutions that benefit both the community and the environment,” Wells said in his report.

If Georgia Power awards the funds, that would cover most of the costs for EV infrastructure installation at the Morgan Falls Road complex, he said.
