Federal Broadband Discount Program Suspended Due to Low Funds – The Presidential Prayer Team

Affordable Connectivity Program stops accepting new enrollments.

White House Senior Advisor to the President and Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs Tom Perez confirmed that President Biden’s administration is suspending the Affordable Connectivity Program, a federally funded discount on monthly internet payments for low-income households. The program stopped accepting new applications on Wednesday as the high-speed internet subsidy, formed under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, is about to expire.

The White House previously urged Congress to approve another $6 billion to keep the program running and is calling for Congress to do so by the end of the year.

“Internet is like water. It’s an essential public necessity that should be affordable and accessible to everyone,” Spokesperson Perez said. “Just as we wouldn’t turn off the water pipes in a moment like this, we should never turn off the high-speed internet. That is the pipeline to opportunity and access to health care for so many people across this country.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Director Perez as he advises the president and engages with U.S. legislators on the administration’s goals and policies.
  • For members of Congress as they determine the levels of government funding for federal programs and initiatives.
