Members of the community came together for an evening of entertainment and philanthropy to support the mission of the LightHouse Women and Children’s Center.

The center, a project of the Hope Rescue Mission, offers shelter to women and children dealing with the trauma of homelessness.

To aid in that effort, a Welcome Home Party was held at the Reading Country Club in Exeter Township on Thursday evening. Organizers said it was the second year that the event was held and it once again exceeded expectations, with attendees enjoying a lively atmosphere filled with camaraderie and generosity.

The party included a live and silent auction, where guests bid on a variety of exclusive items and experiences. Organizers did not immediately provide information on how much the event raised.

Kate Alley, executive director of the center, said she was overwhelmed by the support from the community.

“The success of the Welcome Home Party is a testament to the compassion and generosity of our supporters, whose contributions will directly benefit the women and children we serve,” she said. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to its success. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

Robert Turchi, CEO of Hope Rescue Mission, said the event was great fun for a great cause.

“It was a win-win for everyone there,” he said.

Funds raised from the Welcome Home Party will play a crucial role in supporting vital programs and services the center offers to women and children experiencing homelessness. It will also help provide operating costs associated with the shelter like covering the cost of food and supplies, officials said.
