AmeriServ ‘chats’ with listeners about finance | News

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – AmeriServ Financial is providing a new service to the community that can be accessed any time, anywhere, bank officials said.

The bank has introduced its “Bank Chats” podcast to help educate listeners about finance, said Susan Tomera Angeletti, AmeriServ senior vice president and director of corporate marketing.

“We are hoping to just give you tools you need to start you on a good journey in terms of financial freedom,” she said.

The podcast, hosted by Drew Schneck, AmeriServ vice president for digital marketing, includes discussions with financial experts on a broad range of finance-related topics.

New episodes are published on the third Tuesday of each month and can be found on leading podcast channels or AmeriServ’s website, ameriserv.com.

In addition, shorter 15-minute episodes called “2 Cents” feature discussions between Schneck and a co-host on financial topics that may be in the news or on their mind.

In addition to hosting the podcast, Schneck takes the lead on AmeriServ’s website and social media channels, video production, and TV and radio commercials.

“I think the most rewarding thing about the podcast is the ability to reach out and get to listeners when and where they are,” Schneck said.

“With a podcast, you can listen to it driving to work or on a run. I think there is a need and a desire for people to get financial education. We are just happy to help provide it.”

AmeriServ has been producing the podcast at its headquarters at 216 Franklin St., Johnstown, since August.

The podcast has replaced in-person seminars held by AmeriServ that were halted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s really taken off,” Tomera Angeletti said. “I don’t know that we’ll go back to doing in-person seminars only because this has a further reach, and it doesn’t matter where you are.”
