Lakshadweep remains top-searched keyword on Google for second consecutive day after PM Modi’s visit | India News


NEW DELHI: For two days in a row, “Lakshadweep” has topped Google searches following Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s visit to the Union Territory, where he shared stunning photos of the picturesque archipelago.
Over 50,000 users searched for it on Google after the Prime Minister said that he is “still in awe” of the “stunning” beauty of the islands and the “incredible warmth” of its people.
He posted on X, “Recently, I had the opportunity to be among the people of Lakshadweep. I am still in awe of the stunning beauty of its islands and the incredible warmth of its people. I had the opportunity to interact with people in Agatti, Bangaram and Kavaratti. I thank the people of the islands for their hospitality.”He also said, “Our focus in Lakshadweep is to uplift lives through enhanced development. In addition to creating futuristic infrastructure, it is also about creating opportunities for better healthcare, faster internet and drinking water, while protecting as well celebrating the vibrant local culture.”

PM Modi inaugurates, lays foundation stone of projects in Lakshadweep’s Kavaratti

The PM was on the the islands from January 2 to January 3. He inaugurated the Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fibre Connection and laid the foundation stone for renovation of the primary healthcare facility and five model Anganwadi centres.

Appreciating the history and beauty of the islands, in a series of posts on X, the PM said, “Lakshadweep is not just a group of islands; it’s a timeless legacy of traditions and a testament to the spirit of its people. My visit has been an enriching journey of learning and growing.”

PM Modi also went snorkeling and was captured relaxing on an armchair. He called it “moments of pure bliss”. He also urged people to add Lakshadweep on the lists if they wish to “embrace the adventurer in them”.
