Senior property owners and renters in Bucks County and throughout the state can save up to $1,000 a year on their respective property taxes and rental payments, and now, there is more time to apply for those savings.
The Shapiro Administration has extended the property tax/rent rebate program until Dec. 31; here is how you can sign up.
What are the qualifications, and how can I apply for the property tax and rent rebate program?
Homeowners and renters 65 and older can qualify for rebates ranging from $350 to $1,000, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue,
You can apply for the property tax/rental rebate program online.
“The amount of money you will receive is based on your income. Some applicants may qualify for supplemental rebates as well,” according to the revenue department’s property tax/rental rebate website.
Here’s the income-rebate breakdown:
- $0 – $8,000: $1,000 estimated rebate.
- $8,001 – $15,000: $770 estimated rebate.
- $15,001 – $18,000: $$460 estimated rebate.
- $18,001 – $45,000: $380 estimated rebate.

There are other program requirements as well.
Aside from the general 65-and-older age requirement, the program is also open to widows and widowers who are age 50 and older, and disabled citizens who are 18 and older. Eligibility is capped at $45,000 or less in annual income.

“Submitting your application through myPATH is easy and does not require you to sign up for an account. Filing online gives you instant confirmation that your claim has been successfully filed,” according to the program’s website. “Applicants also will have access to automatic calculators and other helpful features that are not available through the paper application.
It is free to apply for the rebate and assistance program, and it can be done in-person at locations across the state: Department of Revenue district offices, local Area Agencies on Aging, and state legislators’ offices.” Applicants must reapply each year to determine if they qualify for assistance.
