Social media post says Priyanka Gandhi’s daughter owns Rs 3,000-crore property, HP police register FIR | Chandigarh News

The Himachal Pradesh Police has registered an FIR against an unidentified person for uploading a “misleading and baseless” post about the property of Miraya Vadra, the daughter of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and businessman Robert Vadra.

The accused, who posted on X under the name of Anoop Verma last week, claimed that Miraya owns property worth Rs 3,000 crore.

A case under sections 153 (provocation for riots), 469 (forgery), 500 (defamation) and 505 (inciting a community or persons for offence against any other community) of IPC was registered on Monday against Verma at Shimla East police station.

The case has been lodged on a complaint filed by Congress member Pramod Gupta who alleged that Verma has tweeted a misleading, false and baseless post against Miraya.

“The X user’s actual identity is yet to be established. We are seeking assistance from the Cyber Cell police, and the suspect will be apprehended shortly,” said Mamta Raghuvanshi, Station House Officer, Shimla East police station.

Festive offer

As per the complaint, the post said that Miraya has wealth worth Rs 3,000 crore whereas the source of this wealth is that she is the daughter of Priyanka Vadra and granddaughter of Sonia Gandhi.

Gupta, in his complaint, further said that the post was made during the ongoing parliamentary elections “to sow confusion and incite hatred towards the Congress party among the public”.

The post has hurt the reputation of Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra and “created anger among the Congress workers of Himachal Pradesh and general public due to which public peace could be disturbed,” the complaint said.

The Lok Sabha elections for four seats in Himachal Pradesh, along with by-elections for six Assembly constituencies, are scheduled for June 1.
