Sioux City City Council slated to receive property to create transitional housing at Monday’s meeting

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – On Monday, the Sioux City City council will meet to discuss several key items on its agenda.

Donation Agreement

The Sioux City City Council plans to adopt a resolution approving a donation agreement between the City and Family Wellness Associates, Inc., in which the company will give a property located at 525 14th Street to the city.

The building at that property was originally constructed in 1949, as a Jewish Community Center, and was used from the mid 1990s until it became vacant in 2019 by local non-profits.

City staff are looking at the property as a potential site for permanent supportive housing for people transitioning from homelessness. Family Wellness Associates Inc. has owned the property since 2019 according to Woodbury County Assessor records.

City Manager Selection

The Sioux City City Council is also moving forward in the selection process for a new City Manager.

The agenda for Monday’s meeting shows that the city plans to authorize staff to negotiate an employment contract for one of the three finalists for the position.

The three finalists are Eric Swanson, Craig Clark, and Andrew Barden.

The City initiated the search for a new city manager after former City Manager Bob Padmore retired after serving the community for over 25 years. Assistant City Manager Mike Collett has served as interim city manager since April.
