Man arrested for carrying BB rifle on Rochester school property – Post Bulletin


ROCHESTER — A 20-year-old was arrested on Sunday, June 30, 2024, for carrying an airsoft rifle on school property and in public.

Jakob Barrows was charged with carrying a BB rifle in public, using a BB gun on school property, having a BB gun on school property and disorderly conduct.

According to a release from the Rochester Police Department, an officer was approached by a citizen on Sunday night who said they saw a man wearing a mask and carrying an AK47.

The release said as officers were investigating, a Beacon Academy staff member told police they could see a man wearing camouflage and carrying a rifle in front of the school.

Officers located Barrows, who had on a vest with magazine pouches, and took him into custody. Police discovered the rifle the man was carrying was an airsoft rifle, the release said.

Barrows told officers he wanted to practice shooting his airsoft rifle and his tactical skills.
