Homeowner fatally shoots intruder, police say

Investigators say that’s when the suspect tried to attack the homeowner, and the homeowner, armed with a shotgun, fired at the intruder.

SAN ANTONIO — A homeowner on the west side of town shot and killed a man that police say refused to leave his property early this morning.

San Antonio Police responded to the 800 block of Allende Drive near West Commerce around 1 a.m. for reports of a shooting in progress.

When officers arrived, they found a 47-year-old suspect fatally shot.

The homeowner told officers that suspect came to the front door of the home  and was told twice to get off the property, but officers say he came back a third time.

Investigators say that’s when the suspect tried to attack the homeowner, and the homeowner, armed with a shotgun, fired at the intruder.

The suspect was hit once and died on the scene.

It’s unclear if the homeowner will be facing any charges–according to police, he told officers they feared for their safety.

This is a developing story.
