Goose Lands Financing for East Williamsburg Apartments

Yitzchok Katz’s Goose Property Management scored $108.5 million in financing from Apollo Global Management for its East Williamsburg rental property.

Katz’s firm secured the permanent financing for its 185-unit multifamily building at 575 Grand Street, according to a source familiar with the deal.

Henry Bodek of Galaxy Capital brokered the deal.

The financing follows news that German discount grocer Lidl inked a long-term lease for just over 26,500 square feet at the property. Kenneth Schuckman and Jessica Vilmenay of Schuckman Realty brokered the lease.

Goose Property Management acquired the former Key Foods Supermarket from Tapps Supermarkets for $42.5 million in 2022. The developer secured $86.7 million in financing from SCALE Lending. The former owners sought to develop the property into a six-story rental building in 2015, but the project never materialized.

Goose works closely with Simon Dushinsky’s Rabsky Group. Katz’s father-in-law is Rabsky partner Isaac Rabinowitz, according to people familiar with the men.

Katz’s group has made big moves at a time when deal-making has slowed.

Goose is seeking to build 350 units in Brooklyn’s Boerum Hill, including a 99-unit residential building at 264 Bergen Street, according to Crain’s. The firm in November paid $22 million for a 110,000-square-foot development site in Gowanus, Brooklyn. The Elo Group was the seller of the lot at 172 Third Avenue.
