Where In the centre of Caltagirone, an inland city in the middle of Sicily. It is known for its pottery and ceramics industry, and its famous 142-step staircase which is covered in local ceramic tiles. Within an hour’s drive lies Catania, a large port city on the east coast of the island which has an international airport.
