CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Brian Jackson, 37, received an 18 to 36-month prison sentence on June 3 from Judge Steven Sharp. This sentence includes credit for 36 days served. Jackson pleaded guilty to felony property destruction greater than $1,000 last December. Initially, a probationary sentence was considered in a plea agreement.
The case’s origins trace back to May 12, 2023, when Officer Gordon of the Cheyenne Police Department responded to a burglary on West College Drive. The residence, undergoing renovations, had its wiring torn from walls and various building supplies stolen.
Travis Shaffer, the renovation project manager, discovered two unauthorized males at the site. They fled in a black Dodge Dakota, which was later identified as belonging to Samantha Sherlock according to the affidavit of probable cause.
They stole wiring and cabinets before being interrupted by construction workers. The total estimated damage and theft amounted to $80,000 according to the affidavit.
As part of the plea deal, charges of burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, and criminal trespass were dismissed. Jackson agreed to split restitution costs with Sherlock, who is set for trial on July 22.
