Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin on Saturday (April 12, 2025) alleged that AIADMK leaders who had mortgaged the party after two raids by the central agencies sought to mortgage the State by aligning with the BJP.

In a statement in Chennai, he said it was an alliance of corruption.

“After the relatives of AIADMK office-bearers were subjected to raids by the central agencies, the AIADMK leaders ran towards the BJP leadership. The BJP utilised the opportunity to force an alliance. The people of Tamil Nadu are aware of it. Corruption has cemented the alliance,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the AIADMK-BJP combination was a failed alliance and the people of Tamil Nadu had continuously defeated it in the elections.

“Union Home Minister Amit Shah has again created a failed alliance. It could be his wish to create the alliance. But he has not explained the reasons and principles behind its creation. He has just said that there would be a common minimum programme (CMP),” the Chief Minister said.

Mr. Stalin also wanted to know whether the CMP would include the AIADMK’s opposition to NEET, the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and delimitation that might reduce the number of Lok Sabha seats to Tamil Nadu.

“Mr. Shah did not touch upon those issues and also did not allow the AIADMK leadership to express its stand. He criticised the DMK, the State government, and me,” Mr. Stalin said.

The Chief Minister said the DMK had been fighting for the rights of States, Tamil culture while the BJP-AIADMK alliance had been formed with a lust for power.

“The BJP leadership seeks to destroy Tamil Nadu through various designs including imposition of Hindi and delimitation. AIADMK leaders are old bonded labourers and the BJP has forced them to join the alliance. Tamil Nadu people will teach a fitting lesson to the AIADMK which has mortgaged Tamil Nadu to Delhi without any self-respect,” he said.
