Master Trooper James R. Bailey
AUBURN, Ind. (WANE) — Master Trooper Bailey’s family was honored as the recipient of the Fallen First Responder Home Program.
The program, which completely pays off the mortgage of the home of the fallen Trooper Bailey, honors those who have fallen in the line of duty by giving back to families.
Master Trooper Bailey was struck and killed on March 3, 2023, while attempting to deploy spike strips to aid in a vehicle pursuit.
Master Trooper Bailey is survived by his wife Amy and their two children Joseph and Sophia.
“Receiving a mortgage-free home from the Tunnel to Towers Foundation has allowed Amy and her children to stay in the home her children have grown up in, filled with memories of their father,” wrote Amy on the Tunnel to Towers Foundation website.” Finally, Amy would like others to know that her husband would have chosen to honor his life and community by saving others, even if it meant the end of his own.”
The Fallen First Responder Home Program, run by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, is committed to paying off the mortgages of fallen law enforcement officers and firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. The program was created following September 11 to never forget, ” the sacrifices made, and those that continue to be made by our first responders in the line of duty.”
Others who have fallen in the line of duty and have been honored as recipients are fallen South Richland Fire Chief Hal “Matt” Hanenkrath. Hanenkrath died after responding to a house fire in June of 2023. He is survived by his wife, Ashley, and his three children, Haleigh, Brynn, and Bentley.
You can find the full list of those honored, and donate to the cause on the Tunnel to Towers Foundation website.
