American National Bank to Open South Dallas Loan Office to Help Residents With Affordable Housing Options

This Pine Street home in South Dallas is listed for $210,000.

Staff Reports

Dallas Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization Director Cynthia Rogers-Ellickson told us last month that city officials can’t provide affordable housing on their own. They need partners in private industry, the building community, and financial institutions.

American National Bank heard that call to action and is responding with a new loan production office on Exposition Avenue in South Dallas, set to open this fall.

“The office will serve as the new home for the bank’s Emerging Markets team and help provide area residents with access to affordable housing options as well as business and commercial loans,” said Owen Ramsey, an account executive with Cooksey Communications.

Revitalizing South Dallas

Marcelo Mills, American National Bank of Texas’ emerging markets president, said in a press release that the facility at 820 Exposition Ave. will play a critical role in ANBTX’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in South Dallas.

“ANBTX is laser-focused on building lasting relationships with the hard-working businesses, entrepreneurs, and residents of South Dallas,” Mills said. “The new loan production office will amplify ANBTX’s work with our local partners and organizations as we work together to spark revitalization in this vital community.”

The Exposition Avenue location will offer lending services including business and commercial loans. The loan production office will be ANBTX’s central hub for its community engagement team, and a dedicated South Dallas mortgage lender will help residents access affordable housing options across ANBTX’s North Texas footprint, including majority-minority neighborhoods in southern Dallas County.

“The South Dallas office is the latest example of how the trusted North Texas community bank continues to create banking opportunities for the southern sector,” Mills said.

Services for South Dallas Residents

American National Bank of Texas recently invested $3.1 million through its Ignite Home Loan Program and donated over $545,000 to more than 20 community organizations to support long-term revitalization efforts. ANBTX specifically supported the Builders of Hope Community Development Corporation’s Homebuyers Resource Center in the Shops at RedBird.

This home on Peary Avenue is listed for $304,900.

The bank also expanded its popular homebuyer education series to include seminars at Cornerstone Baptist Church and South Side on Lamar. ANBTX joined Good Urban Development, a joint venture between Urban Specialists Inc. and Matthews Southwest to educate prospective homebuyers at Mill City 50, a housing development in the Mill City neighborhood in East Dallas.

“The ANBTX South Dallas Loan Production Office is the bank’s next step in addressing the community’s most pressing needs,” said bank president and CEO Robert Hulsey.

A grand opening event is planned for November.
