The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has urged Chinese investors and development partners to consider the Volta Region as their preferred destination for investment, citing the region’s vast economic potential and investor-friendly environment.
He made the call during the grand climax of the Ghana-China Summit 2025, held in Accra on Friday, June 27.
The summit, which seeks to deepen bilateral ties between Ghana and the People’s Republic of China, brought together high-level government officials, diplomats, and business leaders from both nations.
The event was attended by prominent figures of President John Dramani Mahama led NDC government including the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, as well as other key stakeholders whose presence underscored the importance of the summit’s objective, strengthening international cooperation and promoting sustainable development.
In a Facebook post on his official page, James Gunu highlighted the strategic opportunities the Volta Region offers in areas such as agriculture, renewable energy, tourism, trade, industry, and sports development.
He assured potential investors of the region’s commitment to fostering strong, mutually beneficial partnerships.
“With our rich natural resources, peaceful environment, and strategic location, the Volta Region is poised for accelerated growth. We are ready to support and collaborate with credible investors who share in our vision of economic transformation,” the Regional Minister stated.
He emphasised that the region is open for business and prepared to facilitate the smooth entry and operation of investment ventures that align with Ghana’s development agenda.
The Ghana-China Summit 2025 is a flagship diplomatic platform focused on enhancing trade relations, infrastructure investment, cultural exchange, and shared prosperity between the two nations.
The Volta Regional Minister’s invitation forms part of a broader national strategy to attract foreign direct investment and promote regional equity in development.
The Volta Region has in recent years positioned itself as a rising hub for agribusiness, ecotourism, and clean energy development.
With ongoing infrastructure improvements and a stable political climate, the region presents significant opportunities for investors seeking long-term growth in a peaceful and resource-rich setting.
James Gunu’s appeal is expected to open new chapters of cooperation between the region and Chinese investors, as Ghana continues to strengthen its foreign economic partnerships.
