COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Ohio is set to see nearly 700 new jobs and more than $835 million in investments after the approval of six major economic development projects, Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik announced Monday.
The Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed and approved the proposals during its monthly meeting, following presentations from JobsOhio and regional economic development partners. The projects are expected to generate more than $62 million in new payroll statewide.
In Columbus, three companies secured support:
- Dri-Design Inc. will create 29 new jobs with $2.2 million in annual payroll by opening a new facility. The company produces recyclable, customizable metal wall panel systems for building exteriors. TCA approved a 1.22%, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit.
- Wandel & Schnell Architects (WSA), Inc. plans to expand by leasing a new facility, adding 20 jobs and $1.7 million in payroll. WSA specializes in designing workplaces, educational environments, and community spaces. It was awarded a 1.235%, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit.
- XPO Logistics Freights, Inc. will upgrade its current Columbus facility, creating 55 new jobs with $3.3 million in additional payroll. The logistics company will modernize its operations and fleet, backed by a 1.242%, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit.
The deal also provides tax credits for 491 jobs at Kimberly-Clark, USA in Trumbull County, 74 jobs from Letsgetchecked, Inc. in Butler County, and 30 jobs at Skycell North America in Butler County.
