Norwich Unison site gains nearly $5 million as GE Aerospace announces new investment

NORWICH, N.Y. (WBNG) — GE Aerospace announced investing nearly $1 billion in its U.S. manufacturing sites and suppliers, including almost $5M at its Unison site in Norwich and almost $7M across New York.

Officials said this investment will help increase engine safety, quality and delivery, benefitting more than two dozen communities across 16 states.

“The products manufactured here help power the helicopters that keep our troops safe and ignite rockets that send astronauts into space. This investment will have a big impact to keep manufacturing strong here in Norwich and the United States,” said Site Leader Shannon Slack, in Norwich for Unison, a GE Aerospace company.

Senator Chuck Schumer said that Unison and GE Aerospace’s increased investment in New York showed residents that the sky is the limit for this workforce.

“This $7+ million investment will help propel the aviation and air defense programs that boost our economy and advance our national security,” said Schumer. “The cutting-edge products manufactured in Norwich and Bohemia are uplifting the future of flight. I’ve been a proud supporter of GE Aerospace’s growth in New York and will keep fighting at the federal level to bolster new developments in aerospace technology and create new good-paying jobs.”
