Collins Aerospace Boosts Richardson’s Economy with $57M Investment,

Collins Aerospace is once again expanding its wings, this time in Richardson. The aerospace giant, operating under RTX, has committed to ramp up its manufacturing and research and development operations, creating over 570 new jobs and injecting more than $57 million in capital investment into the region. Backed by a Texas Enterprise Fund grant of $3,718,000, the company is bolstering the state’s standing as a top destination for aerospace endeavors. According to the Office of the Texas Governor, “Texas is ranked as the No. 1 state for attracting aerospace manufacturing.”

In the heart of the Lone Star State, Governor Greg Abbott hailed the expansion as a stride to solidify Texas’ position as the nerve center for aerospace, aviation, and defense industries. “This $57 million investment by Collins Aerospace to expand their manufacturing and R&D operations in Richardson will create more than 570 good-paying jobs for hardworking Texans and deliver innovative solutions right here in Texas,” Abbott stated, as reported by the Office of the Texas Governor.

Collins Aerospace’s decision was influenced by the support provided by both the State of Texas and the City of Richardson. The company’s Vice President and General Manager for Strategic Solutions, Philippe Limondin, acknowledged the pivotal role this support played, saying, “The support from the State of Texas and the City of Richardson made the decision to expand our footprint an easy one.” He emphasized the importance of the state’s commitment to the aerospace sector as a factor in their continued success, which is reflected by the company’s decision to invest in the area, as stated by the Office of the Texas Governor.

Local officials have expressed their enthusiasm for the economic benefits this expansion is set to bring. State Representative Angie Chen Button noted the positive impact on the local workforce, claiming, “These high-wage, high-skill jobs will boost our economy and create real opportunities for local families.” She is an ardent supporter of policies designed to attract cutting-edge companies like Collins Aerospace. The job influx and investment are seen as a testament to the region’s emerging prominence in aerospace innovation and advanced manufacturing, echoed in sentiments shared by Senator Bob Hall. He lauded the initiative as a “tremendous win” for both Collin County and Texas, as per the Office of the Texas Governor.

Richardson City Manager Don Magner also weighed in, remarking on the alignment of this expansion with the city’s strategic goals. “As a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry, its continued investment reinforces Richardson’s position as a hub for research, development, and technology,” said Magner, according to the Office of the Texas Governor. The community seems unified in its belief that this move by Collins Aerospace is more than just a business expansion; it’s a vote of confidence in the future of the local and state economy.
