Arlington, Texas: Hurricane Harbor unviels new area

ARLINGTON, Texas — Hurricane Harbor is great, but what makes the waterpark even better is more water.

“This is our largest investment in our park’s 42-year history,” said park manager Heather Blair.

That investment came in the form of an island. Splash Island.

It’s a new 58,000-square-foot kids’ area at Hurricane Harbor.

The showstopper at Splash Island is the Treehouse, which is still receiving some finishing touches ahead of its opening in a couple of weeks.

The Treehouse features 17 slides, a one-thousand-gallon water bucket and 110 total water features.

Just down from the Treehouse are nine other slides and a splash pad.

For parents who prefer to sit back and relax, Splash Island features multiple cabanas with comfortable seating and wait service.

Splash Island is part of an overall refresh at Hurricane Harbor.

Blair said the park has new restaurants, new restrooms, new landscaping and a fresh coat of paint.

“A lot of people won’t even recognize part of the park,” she said.

Blair said guests who have been to the park before will see it in a whole new light.

“To be back at the waterpark that I grew up and to see all of this investment and these new enhancements is truly incredible to be a part of,” she said.

Blair said these aren’t just subtle changes, they’re Texas-sized.

That’s because Hurricane Harbor knew it needed to make a splash, so that guests could too.
