You can walk.
You can shop.
Or you can walk, shop and watch a baseball game.
It’s all part of the Sparkle Network and Woman’s Life Chapter 911 Macomb Angel’s U-tica Palooza 5K Walk and Shop at 9 a.m. June 14. The annual event, now in its fourth year, was created to honor, remember and support families impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia.
“By being a part of the event you will get to enjoy the beauty of Utica’s Grant Park on this summer morning,” said Moe Lietz, a comedian from Rochester Hills and founder of the Sparkle Network, a nonprofit organization that supports a variety of causes in southeast Michigan including families impacted by Alzheimers and dementia struggling to pay for respite care and medical assistance.
Partnering on this event is the Woman’s Life Chapter 911, also a nonprofit supporting a variety of service projects and causes throughout Macomb County including Vets Returning Home and Gianna House, while also working to help individuals and families in crisis such as those who have had a house fire, unexpected medical bills or funeral expenses.
“Walkers this year can donate whatever amount they feel comfortable giving,” Lietz said.
Those who donate $10 will receive an event T-shirt and special goodies.

Participants who wish to form a team of five or more walkers with a goal of $100 will also receive a spot along the trail for fundraising.
Registration for the walk begins at 8 a.m.
Also part of the event is the vendor market, which is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There are still spots available for those who wish to join in the fun. This year’s businesses include everything from food and snacks to jewelry and more.
Those who walk also have the option to end the day with a baseball game at Jimmy John’s Field in Utica.
