Taco fundraiser in Marysville to raise funds for Kind Human 4 Human Kind – The Voice

Nonprofit Kind Human 4 Human Kind will host a Taco Bout Kindness fundraiser and basket raffle on March 5.

Kind Human 4 Human Kind assists with clothing, furniture and other resources to those in poverty, those who are veterans, those who are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, those who are homeless, those who have disabilities and more, its website states. Services offered include clothing closets, baby supplies, pick-up or drop-off tailored donations, resources lists, survival bags that include basic necessities for individuals in shelters and the homeless and more.

The Taco Bout Kindness event, which will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at The Venue 1112 in Marysville, will be an opportunity for community members to come together to help support the nonprofit’s many initiatives, according to the nonprofit.

A ticket purchased for the event will allow an attendee to have their choice of a taco-centric meal. Once the attendee is admitted, they will then have the opportunity to buy tickets to bid on one of the many gift baskets that will be available for raffle. There will also be a slideshow highlighting the organization’s endeavors since its inception.

Most of the raffles will be centered around baskets that have been made by volunteers. Most have a theme and can be bid on by purchasing tickets. There will be two gift certificates for photo shoots and one for a soap making class for six, as well as gift cards from local restaurants and other places.

Some of the themes for the baskets include a movie night basket, a hockey basket with a puck signed by Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso, a women’s Mary Kay basket, a men’s Mary Kay basket, a baking basket, a laundry basket, a relax with snacks basket, a baby basket, a pamper me basket and more. Organizers said baskets are still coming in.

Organizers said the idea for the event came about when one of Kind Human 4 Human Kind’s regular donors informed them that they own The Venue 1112 and asked if they would ever be interested in hosting an event there. The event has been in the works for about a month.

As a new nonprofit, the group is always looking for ways to raise funds to support its mission.

There is not a particular goal amount that organizers are looking to raise.

Seating capacity for The Venue 1112, which is located at 1112 Gratiot Blvd. in Marysville, is 80 people seated and 125 standing, so organizers are hoping to see at least 80 people in attendance and possibly more if people cannot stay the entire time.

Tickets, which cost $15, can be purchased prior to the day of the event through a link found on the the Taco Bout Kindness fundraiser and Basket Raffle event page found on the Kind Human 4 Human Kind Facebook page at facebook.com/aaronadamskh4hk. Tickets will also be sold at the door up to capacity.

Kind Human 4 Human Kind is also having an upcoming community giving day event, in which it will give away free clothes, housewares, linens, shoes, books, toys and more, from noon to 5 p.m. March 23 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Harrison Township. Item donations will be accepted from 10 a.m. to noon.

The nonprofit will host another community giving day at Marysville United Methodist Church in either June or September and plans on hosting a similar event in the Yale, Avoca and Emmett area also in June or September. The nonprofit’s holiday November/December giving day will take place in Port Huron.

Additionally, Kind Human 4 Human Kind recently had a survival bag building day and distributed 80 of the bags to local shelters in the community — 30 were distributed to Blue Water Area Rescue Mission in Port Huron and 50 were distributed to Motor City Mitten Mission in St. Clair Shores.

The other 20 bags will be disseminated to the nonprofit’s board members and volunteers to be given directly to those they see in need.

“These two initiatives are held by our organization multiple times per year in addition to our direct delivery program, where we bring much needed items like clothing, housewares and furniture to those in need in our community on a continuous basis,” the nonprofit said. “We cannot have any of these initiatives without financial support, volunteer support and the kindness and generosity from the members of our community who have shown time and again that they have a very genuine giving spirit.”

Kind Human 4 Human Kind is run 100% by unpaid volunteers, and 100% of the items it is gifted are given for free to those in need in the community.
