Lamendola’s Supermarket in Gonzales has planned a ceremony to honor the memory of the late Brenda Morris, as well as collect donations for her daughter.
According to a Facebook post published to the store’s page, the donations can be made at registers through July 9 and the dedication ceremony has been set for the same date at 11 a.m., where the community can honor Morris, who was a longtime employee of the store and well-known in the area.
The community has worked together to support her daughter, Patricia Wilson, who will be a high school senior.
“We want to make sure she has everything she needs for her graduation and beyond,” the post read.
The funds will help cover graduation expenses, including a gown, invitations, senior trip, and her college fund.
“Patricia’s brothers have shared that their biggest wish is for their baby sister to be taken care of, and we want to help make that happen,” the post continued.
Lamendola’s is located at 116 W. Ascension St., Gonzales.
According to a previous news release from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, Sean Morris was arrested as a suspect in connection with a homicide investigation after Brenda Morris, his wife, was found dead from a gunshot wound June 26 at a residence along Garcon Road.
