TEHRAN – Some national funds have been allocated to the North Khorasan province, situated in northeastern Iran, to restore its historical buildings and develop vital tourism infrastructure, a local official noted.
North Khorasan’s director-general of cultural heritage, tourism, and handicrafts, announced the allocation of approximately $1 million from national funds for the cultural heritage, handicrafts, and tourism sectors of the province.
These funds, Ali Mostofian emphasized, aim to develop tourism infrastructure, which will significantly enhance visitor retention and promote tourism-related employment in the region.
“The funds are earmarked for the restoration of historical buildings, development of tourism infrastructure, and revitalization of local handicrafts,” he added.
Mostofian pinpointed that the priority projects include establishing infrastructure in Robat Qelli, Ayoub Hot Spring, Tangeh Gazi, the historical Belqeys Castle, Gerivan, and the historical site of Rivi.
Additional focus areas involve the completion, equipping, and restoration of the Esfarayen Museum, purchasing the boundaries of the Mofakham Mirror House, according to the director-general.
In the handicrafts sector, he concluded, the funds will be used to create and equip workshops for traditional crafts in Bojnurd, Maneh, and Samalqan counties, as well as to establish and equip a Kilim House in the national city of Bojnurd.
