Williamsport finance adviser briefs committee ahead of expected city proposed budget | News, Sports, Jobs

Williamsport City Council Finance Committee Tuesday heard from a contracted financial adviser who is working through accounts in preparation for the upcoming budget season.

Mayor Derek Slaughter said Tracey Rash, of Government Finance Solutions, has met with some of the finance committee members on off-Tuesday-meeting days along with department heads to prepare for when the mayor presents a proposed budget in November.

Rash said she was able to reconcile most accounts up through September with exception of some accounts at River Valley Transit Authority.

Councilman Eric Beiter asked for an update on Rash’s contract at the council meeting Thursday night.

“We are slated to receive the budget next Tuesday,” Councilwoman Liz Miele, committee chair, said.

“We are going to try our hardest to get it to you by the Nov. 3 council meeting,” Slaughter said. “The goal is to have it then or as soon as possible thereafter,” he said.
