Financing climate resilience and a socially just transition

CPI’s Chavi Meattle will deliver a presentation on financing tools for mitigation and adaptation at the Sustainable Horizons Conference organized by the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action (CFMCA). CFMCA is a global initiative led by the Ministers of Finance (MoFs) of 90 member countries and the regional convening is centered on for climate action strategies for MoFs in Sub-Saharan Africa. The event will focus on the following thematic areas:

  1. Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs): Discussing the role of finance ministries in developing and financing robust NDCs by 2025.
  2. Adaptation: Sharing strategies for enhancing climate resilience and adaptation, focusing on economic stability and growth.
  3. Establishing Climate Units: Insights into creating dedicated climate units within Finance Ministries to coordinate and implement climate policies

AGENDA

The panel will convene on the theme “Financing climate resilience and a socially just transition” and include speakers from AfDB, SOAS, and UNECA. The group of technical experts will offer their analysis on the climate financing and funding gap, followed by a brief discussion of possible tools for external and domestic resource mobilization.
