Nizamabad: Telangana State Finance Commission chairman Sircilla Rajaiah emphasised that local bodies must tap into their own financial resources to enhance their capacity to implement development initiatives and improve public services.
He recommended that both rural and urban local bodies explore additional revenue sources and allocate funds judiciously to provide essential amenities. Rajaiah stressed the importance of municipalities and villages adopting diverse strategies to generate income, noting that it is vital for them to undertake development activities without depending solely on state and central government funding.
Rajaiah held a review meeting with officials from Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts on Saturday. District collectors T. Vinay Krishna Reddy (Nizamabad) and Ashish Sangvan (Kamareddy), along with other senior officials, participated in the meeting.
During the discussion, Rajaiah stated that the finance commission has conducted extensive field visits and is in the process of preparing a comprehensive report outlining strategies to strengthen financial sustainability and promote development. He also encouraged the advancement of solar energy initiatives in the combined Nizamabad district, with the aim of making it a model region in the future.
Finance commission members M. Ramesh, Sankepally Sudheer Reddy, Urdu Academy State chairman Taher, Agricultural Commission member Gadugu Gangadhar, and other dignitaries were also present.
