Film and TV investment vehicle Consortium Media Finance, founded by Marcus Warren and Christian Moore, the son of actor Roger Moore, has launched at the Cannes Film Festival, and revealed its first slate of feature projects.
Consortium Media Finance, alongside sister company Consortium Pictures, is “strategically positioned to combine robust financing capabilities with creative and commercial sensibility, supporting filmmakers and studios in bringing compelling stories to the screen,” the company said.
The companies’ initial production slate includes “Paintbox,” directed by documentarian Lorna Tucker, known for “Westwood: Punk,” “Icon” and “Activist.” It was written by music producer Arthur Baker, and executive produced by “Trainspotting” novelist Irvine Welsh.
“Paintbox” is described as a vivid and satirical comedy charged caper set against a backdrop of the London art scene.
Tucker said: “Following the release of my book ‘Bare’ and documentary ‘Garbo: Where Did You Go?’ I’m excited to have this opportunity to shake things up and turn the gangster caper comedy genre on its head, giving strong female characters a voice in a genre that hasn’t had this before, mixed with bonkers and bold storytelling. I’m really looking forward to making a comedy that pulls apart the practice of commercialization of artists and the way the modern art world treats creatives now.”
The second project is “Only the Guilty,” a high-octane action thriller directed by Will Gilbey (“Jericho Ridge,” “The Courier”), offering “a fresh, relentless take on the pursuit of justice.”
The Consortium is also developing “Rogue Male,” a “next-generation” espionage franchise inspired by Roger Field’s novel, with Moore and Warren producing. It is positioned as “a bold evolution of the spy thriller, channeling the legacy of Moore’s family heritage into a wholly original property aimed at global audiences.”
Consortium Pictures is also collaborating with Voltage Pictures on several projects, and is in discussions with major studio partners and platforms, the company said.
“The Consortium represents a commitment to intelligent, commercial and culturally resonant storytelling,” Warren said. “We are proud to launch with a slate that reflects the depth, energy, and global ambition that define our vision.”
Moore added: “We believe in empowering filmmakers and building enduring franchises. With the support of our partners and collaborators, The Consortium is poised to become a major force in the next generation of film production and financing.”
Consortium Media Finance is headquartered in London, while Consortium Pictures is based in Los Angeles and Monaco.
