Crypto adoption as a payment method has just taken a new leap with the expansion of the Solana Pay plugin for Shopify! It now supports more than 100 cryptocurrencies. This update, powered by Helio, promises to transform the payment experience for millions of Shopify merchants worldwide.
Solana redefines crypto payments with Shopify!
The Solana Pay plugin allows merchants to accept crypto payments with reduced fees. All while offering real-time conversion into stablecoins such as USDC, EURC, PYUSD, and USDY. The latter is a tokenized note secured by short-term U.S. Treasury bills and on-demand bank deposits.
The goal of this new version is to integrate millions of merchants into crypto commerce. But also, to set a new standard for e-commerce payments by improving the payment experience, enhancing customer loyalty programs, and integrating Web3 features.
Stijn Paumen, CEO and co-founder of Helio, commented that merchants can easily reach customers by installing Solana Pay in “a few simple clicks.” “Enabling the largest e-commerce platform to accept crypto payments faster than card payments is a significant step towards the mass adoption of crypto payments.”
The advantages of the Solana Pay update
The update to the Solana Pay plugin has introduced several notable features and benefits. Firstly, it introduced a 0.75% transaction fee. These “competitive” fees are necessary to “support continued innovation and operational costs.” Secondly, the plugin includes an on-ramp feature via the Helio dashboard, allowing customers to fund their wallets with crypto in their preferred currency.
