Nationwide online banking DOWN as customers hit with money transfer issues


Nationwide Building Society has told customers to expect a delay in receiving payments

Nationwide Building Society’s online banking is reportedly down as customers have rushed to social media to fume aout the issues.

Down Detector indicates that the issue started at around 5.30am, as comments started coming in on the website soon after.

One customer said: “Transferred money from natwest to nationwide this morning and it’s still not showing in my account, this is becoming a regular thing lately!!!

According to the Down Detector, 83% of reported issues are related to funds transfer, 9% to mobile banking and 8% to online banking, as of 8.00am.

Customers have also turned to social media to share their frustration over the lack of payments, with many asking Nationwide if there is a problem in receiving transfers.

“And there website says no issues! ! Yeah OK…..” Another fumed: “Same with me. Moved £4,500. Vanished.”

On X, another customer asked: “@AskNationwide why am I not receiving any payments today?”

“@AskNationwide is there an issue with faster payments? Sent some money to my account this morning and it hasn’t arrived yet, normally it’s immediate,” a third commented.

While a fourth asked: “@AskNationwide hi are incoming payments delayed?”

The building society replied: “Hi there, we are aware of a delay affecting some payments to customers’ accounts. We’re working to fix this ASAP, and we are really sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

It comes as Nationwide has issued a warning over romance scam fraud.

On its website, they wrote: “Once the money has been sent, it’s unlikely you’ll get it back. It can even be impossible to recover.

“The scammer will often disappear after they get the money. The messages stop, their profile goes away.

“If you’ve already sent money, contact us for help straight away. Keep anything that could be used as evidence.”

It added: “Scammers try to take your interactions outside the big dating apps and websites. They encourage you to use private emails, phone calls and instant messaging. These cannot be easily tracked and are not as secure.

“Do not let money come into your online relationship. This includes sending and accepting money. Meet them in person and get to know them. Giving lots of reasons for why they cannot meet up is a warning sign. They’re trying to hide. And if they ask for money, always walk away.

Research the people you meet online. If things start to become serious, it’s OK to look up this person a bit more. Are they on other social network websites? Can you confirm what they’ve told you about where they work or live or what their life circumstances are?”
