Facebook-owned, Instagram has announced keyword search features for English speaking users. Now the users of six countries, including the UK, US, Ireland, and Canada will be able to search the keywords from the search option. Initially, users were only able to search either by username or the Hashtag.
Additionally, Instagram has also expanded its Guide features to everyone. This feature will make it easier to curate, share posts, and products from their beloved accounts. Through the guide feature, the users will now able to find the Guides on profile and also they can share them through stories and via direct messages.
Explaining the feature, Instagram said, “Product Guides maybe featured in Instagram Shop, our new shopping destination within the Instagram app, so you can discover new products from people you may not already follow,”
From today onwards, Instagram will also let people search the keywords and the post related to keywords should surface even if the tag is missing. However, it is still unclear how the feature defines what a post is about.
“The search is limited to general interest topics and keywords that are within Instagram’s community guidelines,” the Facebook the owned company said.
A company spokesperson told The Verge, The new algorithm considers several factors, including when someone shared the post, the accompanying caption, and the photo or video that’s on display.
The keyword search tool is live in the six countries but it is still limited to some keywords, such as flower, birds, etc. In the coming time, the feature will enhance and soon support more keywords.
