Don’t Trash It LLC in Falconer has installed a new, state-of-the-art $250,000 sorting and crushing machine, an investment that marks the center’s continued growth.
The machine counts, automatically reads barcodes, sorts returnables accordingly, and crushes them on-site to streamline the recycling process. While the upgrade doesn’t change the way customers interact with the center, it demonstrates a strong commitment to operational efficiency and sustainability.
“We want our customers to know we’re growing stronger, and always looking for ways to serve them better,” said Kirby Fisher, Don’t Trash It owner. “This new equipment boosts our back-end efficiency, while keeping things fast and easy for our customers up front.”
In addition to the new machinery, the center utilizes high-speed counting machines that handle up to 300 returnables per minute–speeding up service, minimizing human error and ensuring customers get in and out quickly and accurately.
To go hand-in-hand with the upgrades, the center also now offers a new drop-and-go service that allows account holders to do just that. Account holders and groups organizing can drives can take advantage of dropping their returnables without having to wait in line or come back for payment. Payment options, previously only cash or check, now include Venmo and PayPal for added convenience. Anyone, personal or business, can open an account. “I think the misconception is that you have to be a business to have an account, which you do not. We have many business accounts, but many personal accounts as well. Some individuals have opened accounts to save for Christmas, vacation, or even gas money,” Fisher said.
The center still offers drive-through service all year round, allowing customers to redeem bottles and cans without leaving their vehicles. For those with smaller loads, an express indoor service is available. Customers do not need to sort their returnables by brand. The only request is that glass containers be separated into cardboard boxes for safety and efficiency; the center provides these boxes free of charge. The redemption center also serves local businesses with a pick-up service and maintains hundreds of active accounts throughout the area.
The redemption center operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Don’t Trash It is also no longer closed for the lunch hour. For more information or to open an account, call 716-499-4816 or visit the business Facebook or Instagram page.
