Plan in place for ‘strategic investment’ to relocate Greater Cincinnati library

COLLEGE HILL, Ohio (WKRC) – The College Hill Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation (CHCURC) and the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library are finalizing a $2.1 million purchase agreement for the property at 1609 W North Bend Road. The transaction will allow the relocation of the College Hill Library from 1400 W North Bend Rd to the College Hill Business District.

A 90-day due diligence process will commence immediately, marking a significant step in CHCURC’s mission to create a vibrant and inclusive environment that supports both residents and businesses.

“This is very much a generational decision that was approached with deep thought and purpose,” said Emmanuel Karikari, CEO of CHCURC. “Bringing the library into the heart of College Hill is more than a move. It’s a strategic investment in the vibrancy of our business district, the strength of our community, and the long-term vision we’re building for generations to come.”

The relocation aligns with the Library’s Facility Master Plan, which recommends expanded facilities at a nearby location, and highlights ongoing revitalization efforts in College Hill. The library is expected to bolster local businesses and serve as a hub for learning and community engagement.
