The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Tax and Customs Policy supported bill No. 13233, which provides for the creation of a register of accounts and individual bank safes of individuals.
The first deputy head of the Committee, Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zhelezniak announced this on Telegram, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
As the MP notes, the Committee promises to make changes to the document so that the Ministry of Finance, instead of the Tax Service, would administer the register.
During the Committee meeting, First Deputy Minister of Finance Denys Uliutin confirmed that such plans do exist and the Ministry of Finance is not abandoning them.
“As for banking secrecy, I’ll tell you honestly: yes, we are having a discussion with the National Bank regarding access to banking secrecy. This is a difficult discussion. The National Revenue Strategy states that we have to get to this point, and it will happen anyway. But if we had drafted the entire law with all the things that we consider necessary now, this law would not even have reached the Committee, it would not even have left the Cabinet,” said Uliutin.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Cabinet approved draft law No. 13233 at the end of April.
It provides for the creation of a register of accounts and individual bank safes of individuals, and its administration should be handled by the Tax Service.
